On Giving Tuesday and all year – we’ve got you covered!

It’s not too late to support the League’s work to cover issues you care about. We would welcome your donation any time. Thanks to all the generous people who donated to us on Giving Tuesday or at any time during 2021! See our 2021 donor list here.

We made our Giving Tuesday goal! Donations as of December 17 were: $2,045.00!

We raised 102% of our $2,000 goal! Donations received through December 17 counted toward the goal.

Of course, $2,000 only covers a small part of our total budget. Our total 2021-22 budget for our Education Fund is $88,486. Our total budget for our Advocacy Fund is $40,213. So the total we hope to raise to support all our work this fiscal year, with some carried forward for the summer and fall, is $128,699. We expect to spend a lot providing nonpartisan information to voters for the 2022 mid-term elections. And we still will be doing more advocacy and civic education.

Our Board MATCHED Giving Tuesday donations!

Our volunteer Board of Directors is dedicated to making sure we can cover the costs of providing our services. Board members pledged to match at least the first $500 of Giving Tuesday donations to LWV of Portland. They actually gave more than they pledged – $925.  Clearly, we believe strongly in the value of what we do to keep you covered. Please help us with your donation.

Police Accountability Study

IN-DEPTH STUDIES OF ISSUES: Our research on issues is even-handed and thorough. We interview experts, consider a full range of views and carefully examine the data. We study issues that deeply impact the lives of Oregonians. Read more about our studies here.

NONPARTISAN VOTING RESOURCES: The League of Women Voters provides reliable nonpartisan information about ballot measures and candidates.  You can depend on our voters’ guides, candidate interviews, and forums to be fair and balanced.  Our questions for candidates and our ballot measure reports are based on careful research. Read more about our information for voters here.

Some new priorities we also hope to cover

    • HIRING AN OFFICE MANAGER TO SUPPORT OUR VOLUNTEERS. We have been without a paid employee for 20 months. We need to raise enough money to attract and retain a capable person who’ll help us fulfill our mission.
    • REACHING OUT TO MORE VOTERS IN MORE PARTS OF MULTNOMAH COUNTY, using paid as well as free publicity. We want more people to know about the free resources we provide.
    • PAYING FOR PODCASTS AS WELL AS VIDEOS of our candidate interviews and civic education programs. Podcasts will help more people access our information.
