LWV in the 2024 Grand Floral Parade – join us!

We’re excited that the Rose Festival has again invited the League of Women Voters of Portland to march in the Grand Floral Parade on Saturday, June 8!

Our participation will provide an exciting visual element for the parade’s viewers. It is also a meaningful recognition of important milestones for our our state, county and city.  With all the important issues in the 2024 general election, the public will have a heightened appreciation for celebrating the League and the work we are doing.

We will be a “marching entry” behind a large League banner, and with flags, sashes, and many signs (e.g. “Votes for Women” or “LWV,” but no political signs).  If you’re watching the parade, look for our suffrage colors of yellow, white, and purple.

We have participated in the parade for the last two years (see image below) and have enjoyed the chance to connect with our community. In this key election year, it is the perfect time to raise awareness about the League!

Come march with the League on Saturday, June 8!

To make our participation in the parade a success, we need people to march!

It is a 2-mile, mostly flat route departing from the Memorial Coliseum. We’ll gather there around 9 a.m. to take up our banners and flags, put on our Votes for Women sashes, and jump into the energy and excitement of the Parade.  Bring your family members and friends. Anyone who is 14 or older can march with us. (No pets.)
