April 28 was the deadline to register to vote, update your mailing address, or choose a party for the May Primary.

Return Your Ballot

Primary Election day in Oregon is Tuesday, May 19. Ballots are due no later than 8pm. Find an official ballot drop site in Multnomah County to return in person between now and election day.

If you plan to mail in your ballot, Multnomah County Elections recommends mailing it several days early to ensure it’s postmarked and received by an election office in time to be counted. You do not need a stamp — postage is paid.

What’s on the Ballot in Multnomah County?

Voters in Portland and Multnomah County will vote for and nominate candidates for the following:

  • U.S. Senator*
  • U.S. Representatives*
  • Governor*
  • State Senators*
  • State Representatives*
  • Oregon Supreme Court and Appellate Court Judges
  • Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor and Industries
  • Multnomah County Circuit Court Judges
  • Metro Auditor
  • Metro Council President
  • Metro Council District 1
  • Ballot Measure 26-261**

* Why don’t these races appear on my ballot? Under Oregon law, political parties can choose to have open or closed primaries — and most of them choose closed. Thus, only voters who are registered members of an Oregon political party can vote for the candidates in that party’s primary. The deadline to register to vote in partisan races this Primary Election was April 28.

** Depending on your mailing address, there may be additional measures on your ballot.
