Updated Directory of Elected Officials Available Now

A page describing the contents of a document as the updated list of the Directory of Elected Officials

We’ve updated our Directory of Elected Officials, with information from the results of the May 2023 Special Election. Read it by clicking here. You’ll find information about how to contact all the elected representatives who serve people in our area. There are websites, emails, or phone numbers for everyone from President Biden to the directors of the Fire Districts.

When you have a concern about government, you can use this contact info to ask questions or express your opinion. The Directory also has information about political parties and voter registration. Finally, if you need more details about area governments, check out the Contact Elected Officials page of this website.

New Volunteer Opportunity

Each month, one or two LWV representatives attend the Naturalization ceremonies at the Mark Hatfield Federal Courthouse.  Along with volunteers from the City Club and the Democratic and Republican parties, League members distribute LWV flyers to the new citizens and assist them in filling out voter registration applications.  We also welcome them on behalf of the League, encouraging them to use our publications and websites to become informed and engaged voters.

An average of 150-160 new citizens are naturalized at these ceremonies each month, and of those 120-130 choose to become registered voters.  League members are entrusted with registration cards and deliver them to the county Elections Division.  Around a dozen League members take turns attending these ceremonies, performing a valuable and fulfilling service.

If you are interested in volunteering for this important service, contact the office or Janine Settelmeyer at voterregistration@lwvpdx.org.
