2024 Annual Membership Meeting

Portland League members got together on May 23 to celebrate many new beginnings for Portland and our League — meeting new members, electing a new Board of Directors, using a new voting method, and inaugurating a new form of city government. 

This year’s Annual Membership Meeting was held at the beautiful and spacious Laurelhurst Club. Check-in started at 4:30, with the buffet meal at 5 pm. This event is designed to bring League members together to catch up, enjoy a catered buffet meal, and take care of important League business. (The cost for the meal was $30, although members could attend without purchasing the meal. Information about registering is below.)

Here are the business items that required a votes at the meeting. All of them passed. There was also a nomination from the floor to elect Linda Mather to the vacant position on the nominating slate. Linda was elected.

The following proposal was discussed, but not voted on. Discussions will continue in the summer and fall of 2024, with an email vote after members have the opportunity to become fully informed about this proposal. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The Laurelhurst Club is located at 3721 SE Ankeny St, Portland, OR 97214. The building is one block south of East Burnside Street and ½ block west of SE 39th Ave/Cesar Chavez Blvd, directly across the street from Laurelhurst Park. Parking can be limited, so carpooling is encouraged. Bus lines include the 20 Burnside/Stark and the 75 Cesar Chavez/Lombard.

Ways to pay: 

For registered guests who did not pay in advance, could:

      • Pay $30 per ordered meal at the door with cash, check, or credit card
      • Pay with a check sent to LWV of Portland, PO Box 3491, Portland OR 97208-3491

  • IMPORTANT Cancellation and Refund Information:
  • Our final numbers for the caterer were due on May 17, and our costs were based on the number of registrations on that day. If you have registered and learn you cannot attend, please notify the office by May 16 (info@lwvpdx.org), and you will receive a refund if you have paid. After May 16 all those who registered and have not cancelled will be expected to pay, even if they do not attend.
