To mark the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, LWVPDX is joining in the LWVUS’s nationwide Voting Rights Day of Civic Action.
We will write postcards to potential voters in Multnomah County!
We will have a drop-in picnic set up at Laurelhurst Park in Southeast Portland – look for the LWVPDX banner at a table in the shady northeast quarter of the park.
When: Saturday, August 8, 2026, 10 a.m. -12:00 p.m.
Where: Laurelhurst Park, NW Corner of SE Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. and Stark St.
Who: League members, friends, and neighbors
How: Just show up and write!
We have all the materials so you can just show up and write (if you want to bring your favorite pen or a colorful stamp to personalize cards, you are always welcome to!). RSVP and let us know you will join us!
If you are unable to get out to the park but want to join the postcard-writing campaign from home, let us know and we will send you a kit of postcards, addresses, and stamps so you can write from home. You can also host your own postcard writing party with our cards if you’d like to involve your friends or neighbors!
You don’t have to attend an event to make an impact. No matter where you are, you can make a difference!
