We have been invited to participate again. It was LOTS OF FUN last year.

League members WILL WALK THE 2-MILE ROUTE TOGETHER ON SATURDAY MORNING, JUNE 10.
The Grand Floral Parade is the highlight of the Rose Festival. As we did last year, we will dress in white, like the suffragists who campaigned for women’s voting rights. We will have sashes for marchers to wear and signs to carry.
This year the parade’s theme is “fun,” so we could carry signs about some of the ways League members have fun. For example, it’s fun to work together registering new voters and learning about community issues. Marching together in a parade is definitely fun!
Members, Here’s HOW TO SIGN UP
-
- Please call or email our office – (503) 228-1675 or info@lwvpdx.org– to let Nikki, our Office Manager, know that you are interested in marching with us. She can add you to our list and send you a form to sign.
- IMPORTANT: Each participant must fill out an agreement form. Click here to download the form. Or ask our office to send you the form. (The agreement states that you will comply with the parade rules and will hold the City of Portland and Rose Festival Foundation harmless for any loss you might suffer during the parade. It also allows the Rose Festival Foundation and TV station covering the parade to show photos or videos of you marching.) After you download and save this form to your computer, you can fill it out online using the tools at the top. Then, email your completed form as an attachment to info@lwvpdx.org. Or you can print it, fill it out by hand, and mail it to our office (LWV of Portland, PO Box 3491, Portland, OR 97208-3491).
What to expect
We will be a “marching entry” behind a large League banner, and with flags, sashes, and many signs (e.g. “Votes for Women” or “LWV,” but no political signs). If you need one, we can provide signs, sashes, and/or flags for you. In addition, members of like-minded groups may join us. Anyone who is 14 or older can march with us. (No pets.)
The parade will begin at 10:00 am and end at noon on Saturday, June 10. The parade route is shown below and is also viewable here: https://www.rosefestival.org/events/2023/grand-floral-parade#map. Our marchers will gather near our starting point around 9:30 am. In addition to wearing white, please wear comfortable walking shoes.
Let Marion or Nikki know your questions, and as more detailed information becomes available, we will share it with you. A few days before the parade, we will email or call you about where and when to meet and other details about the parade.
