Even local news channel KATU is looking to the League to help understand the historic election season we are in.

With the city shifting to ranked-choice voting (RCV) for the first time this fall, your League is educating voters every chance we get.  Toward that end, two of our volunteers educated the broadest population yet on a KATU News segment on August 18 on the Your Voice, Your Vote segment.

First, RCV Chair Melanie Billings-Yun broke down just what voters need to know to cast their RCV ballots with confidence.  Next, Voter Registration Lead Mimi Alkire explained the League’s efforts to educate high school students through mock elections with ballots she makes for each school, using races those students’ parents will be voting on.  Together, they make a great pitch for the power of the League!

Count on the League of Women Voters to elevate the voices and votes of every Portlander, in this election and for elections to come.
