As we honor the 92nd anniversary of the birth of civil rights hero, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we are reminded of his policy of nonviolent protest. The League’s mission is to promote public participation in government—nonviolently. https://t.co/lIJWn4tB7s

“Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. https://t.co/lIJWn4bZIS https://t.co/fzVXC5Un4Y

The LWVPDX office will be closed from December 18 through January 4. Volunteers may respond to phone calls and emails as they are able. HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021!

2021 Legislative Session: League members will follow legislative committee meetings and may testify on proposed legislation, according to our advocacy positions. Likewise, LWVPDX members will follow the meetings of the Portland City Council and the Multnomah County Commission.

During January and February 2021, LWVPDX members will be working on “program planning” for our 2021-22 League year. This involves planning for in-depth studies of current critical issues and topics for civic education events.

April 2021: LWVPDX will prepare voting guides and videos of candidate interviews and/or forums for school board candidates running in the May 2021 election.
