The League of Women Voters of Portland is a grassroots, nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government.  As part of our mission to empower voters and defend democracy, we’re sharing Steps for a Successful Election Season.

  1. Register to Vote or Check Your Registration by Oct. 13.
  2. Get informed about the election. Watch our videos about candidates and Portland’s ballot measure about participatory budgeting. Also, check out the LWV Voter Guide and VOTE411.org, the League’s national voting resource, which will give you information for any race in the country.
  3. Learn about ranked choice voting. Both the City of Portland and Multnomah County will use ranked choice voting in this election; on our website, find out how to rank up to six choices for city and county races.
  4. Fill out and sign your ballot clearly. Your signature will be compared to the signatures on file with the Election Office.
  5. In order to ensure your ballot is received by Election Day, drop it in a ballot box by 8pm on Nov. 3, or send it in the mail by Oct. 27. You can drop your ballot in any official ballot box in Oregon.
  6. Lastly, track your ballot with Multnomah County’s Track Your Ballot tool.
