FINALLY The Time Has Come!

We had planned to march in the 2020 Grand Floral Parade to celebrate 100 years of women’s suffrage AND the centennial of the League of Women Voters.  But the 2020 parade was cancelled.

Now two years later, we’ve been invited to march in the 2022 Portland Rose Festival’s Grand Floral Parade. We hope you’ll join us to have some fun and highlight all that we’ve accomplished in our 102 years! We now have even more to celebrate.

We will walk the 2-mile route together on Saturday morning, June 11.

Our participation will provide an exciting visual element for the parade’s viewers. It is also a meaningful recognition of important milestones.  With all the important issues in the 2022 midterm election, the public will have a heightened appreciation for celebrating women’s suffrage and the League.

How to sign up

    • Complete a registration form by clicking here. When you click “submit,” you will be registered. A copy of your completed form will be emailed to you. A few days before the parade, we will email or call you about where and when to meet and other details about the parade.
    • IMPORTANT: Each participant must also download and fill out a waiver, which you can access by clicking here. (The waiver states that you have read the parade rules and will hold the parade sponsors and organizers harmless for any injury or loss you might suffer during the parade.) After you download the waiver,  you can fill it out online using the tools at the top and email it as an attachment to LWVPDX.org by noon on June 9. Or you can print it, fill it out, and bring it with you on June 11.

We will be a “marching entry” behind a large League banner, and with flags, sashes, and many signs (e.g. “Votes for Women” or “LWV,” but no political signs).  If you need one of these emblems, we can provide some signs, sashes, and flags for you.  In addition, members of like-minded groups may join us. Anyone who is 14 or older can march with us. (No pets.)

Please consider an optional $5 or $10/person donation to the League to cover our expenses. If you want to make an online donation for our parade expenses, please click  the PayPal link below and fill in your donation amount. Thank you.

Dressing for the PARADE

Please wear white clothing, because it symbolizes the suffrage movement.  Of course, you definitely should wear comfortable walking shoes.

We’ll provide more information when we confirm your registration. We’ll also send more follow-up information as the event nears. If you have questions, please send them to info@lwvpdx.org.
