Metro Councilor Robert Liberty will discuss the region’s plans for the future on Tuesday, September 15 at 12 p.m. in the Board Room of the Multnomah County Building, 501 SE Hawthorne Boulevard, Portland. The event is free, and the public is invited to attend.
Mr. Liberty will focus on the update to the Regional Transportation Plan, the designation of Urban and Rural Reserves, and Metro’s Urban Growth Report.
The Portland metropolitan area is well known for its commitment to sustainability, its thriving communities, cultural amenities, scenic beauty and healthy natural ecosystems. These advantages make the region an appealing place to live. How will the metropolitan area manage pressing growth, infrastructure, development issues and economic challenges while also protecting adjacent rural lands from urbanization?
Robert Liberty was elected to the Metro Council in 2004 and re-elected in 2008 for a second term. He serves as a Metro Council liaison to the Metro Policy Advisory Committee, the Transit Oriented Development Steering Committee and the Oregon Zoo Foundation Board. He also serves on TriMet's Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Steering Committee and Multnomah County's Sellwood Bridge Policy Advisory Group. He is a lead councilor on the Investing in Our Communities project to find ways to accommodate expected growth and make our communities livable.
Portland Community Media will broadcast the discussion on Channel 30 live on Tuesday, September 15, at 12 p.m. Repeat broadcasts will be aired on Channel 30 on Saturday, September 19, at 10 a.m.; Sunday, September 20, at 7 p.m.; and Tuesday, September 22, at 8 p.m.
