Candidate Forums for the Republican and Democratic primaries in the First Congressional District will be held in Hillsboro, October 20. The forums are free and the public is invited to attend.

First Congressional District Special Primary Election
Public Invited October 20
The League of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women will present a forum for candidates for the nomination of the Democratic Party, and a forum for candidates for the nomination of the Republican Party, for the office of Representative to the United States Congress from the First Congressional District of Oregon in the November 8 Special Primary Election. The forums are free and the public is invited to attend.
The forums will occur on Thursday, October 20, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Hillsboro Civic Center Auditorium, 150 East Main Street, Hillsboro. All candidates have been invited to participate. Candidates for the Democratic nomination will appear at 7 p.m. and candidates for the Republican nomination will appear at 8:15 p.m.
The forums will be aired live by TVCTV. The playback schedule for Multnomah County and Washington County will be posted on the League of Women Voters website (www.lwvpdx.org).
Efforts are being made to air the forums multiple times in each county in the First Congressional District before the November 8 Special Primary Election. See the League website for schedules.

For more information about candidates in the November 8 Special Primary election, see the Voters’ Guide, a publication of the League of Women Voters, at lwvpdx.org beginning on September 23. Paper copies of the Voters’ Guide will be available in libraries and in the County Clerk or Elections offices in Clatsop, Columbia, Multnomah, Washington, and Yamhill Counties.
Voter Registration Deadline
The deadline to register to vote in the November 8 Special Primary Election is October 18, 2011.

Election day is November 8. Ballots will be mailed to voters on October 21-25. Completed ballots must be received at an official drop-off site in the First Congressional District (Clatsop, Columbia, Multnomah, Washington, and Yamhill Counties) by 8 p.m. on November 8, 2011.
