The Russian delegates started the morning with an orientation on local government led by League members and then went on a tour of Portland by public transportation.

We took Bus 8 up to the OHSU campus and walked from the Veterans Administration over the skybridge to OHSU, visited Shriners Hospital, and then rode the tram down to the South Waterfront.
Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Hood were both clearly visible and our visitors took many pictures.
After lunch on the South Waterfront at Bambuza (yes, the Russians liked Vietnamese food!), we toured the greenway along the Willamette River and boarded the street car to Portland’s cultural district along the Park Blocks.

We were met there by League member Sharon Little who took us on a tour of the Portland Art Museum’s outside plaza, the Performing Arts Center, including a look inside at all three theaters, and then Pioneer Courthouse Square.
The day ended with a ride on bus 15 up to a League member’s home in Mt. Tabor where League members gathered in a welcoming reception to meet and talk with our visitors who are proving to be very charming and enjoyable guests. They are quite appreciative of our efforts and very interested in seeing everything they can about Portland and its government systems.
